Reflective Journals #FirstWeek

Liana Riani Ramli
February 3rd, 2017

Hello everyone! My name is Liana Riani Ramli (it’s already written on this blog though), just call me Liana. I’m a university student on Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya in English Department. I’ve been studying there for 2 semester. I wish I can graduate from this campus in two and half or three years later. Well, I think it’s enough about me.

First of all, let me thank all of you who have read and commented on my posts. Thank you very much for sparing your time to read my blog. I wish all my articles are useful for everybody. Actually, I made this blog on purpose to fulfill my assignment from Mr. Nugi, Writing A from Class A. He made all of the students from Writing A Class A to create a blog and write daily journals on the weekdays and a reflective journal once a week. And as if those tasks not enough, he asked everyone to read and to comment each other’s blog if we have “time”. But thanks to him, I can add so much knowledge from searching material for my daily journals and from my friend’s blogs.

This week’s topic is about “Why”. I chose to use this theme because I always wonder the reason from all my articles I wrote. For example, “Why There are so Many Languages”. It’s my favorite article so far. I’ve been asking myself what the answer is, but I always forget to search about it too, haha. But this time, I have a chance to find out about it and even to share it on my blog. Sometimes things that already familiar with us, we just think “that’s how it is” or “it happened since before” or maybe “I don’t care about it, don’t think too much about it”. Those are normal expressions for me, because I often think like that too. But, rarely, only happens on the spur of the moment, once in a blue moon, I really curious with what exactly the reasons are behind everything in the world. So, if you ask me why I take the theme “why” on this first week daily journals, above is my reason why I use it. Hahaha.

See you next week, keep reading on my next posts okay?

Why English is Important in Work

The more people need jobs, the more difficult to find employment. Many top companies make an interview harder, so they only hire decent workers. Fluent in English is one of the condition if the interviewees want to pass the interview. Almost 55% of companies in Indonesia require the employee to use English actively. It will be easier to follow the communication’s rhythm with clients who speak do not Indonesian. And also in order to keep the reputation of company, in investors, clients or the public’s eyes. That’s why English is undoubtedly important.

Why Language is Needed in Communication

Humans couldn't be separated with language. It's function as the ultimate communication tool for human beings. Whether is text, body language or spoken words. People create, seek, convey and use information using language. Basically, every human action need language to express something. A baby crying to get attention from his parents. A girl screaming to express her anger. A teacher use mediator to present materials to his students. A couple holding hands to show their love. Why People Learn Foreign Language

Many benefits can be gained from learning other's languages aside from our language. A person who learn a foreign language has more rapid brain development than they who don't. When human brain processing what language should be used, this action makes brain cells stronger and smarter. Once learning a foreign language, it's easier to study other languages. Gathering knowledge is not a problem anymore. Speaking in more than one language can raise confidence, courage, conscientious and diligent too. Sometimes it's hard to learn something unfamiliar, but it's not comparable with what you get.

Why English Become the International Language

English is the oldest language in the world. The development of this language is growing rapidly every year. Harvard University and Google recorded that English words increase 8,500 words each year. Many countries use English as their first language, like United States of America, United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore, are developed countries that dominant in the world's market. Also, England had colonized about 90 from 205 countries. It was almost 44% amount of countries in this world.
