Reflective Journal #TwelfthWeek

Liana Riani Ramli
Reflective Journal
May 19th, 2017

Hello everybody! Meet me again, and I think this is supposed to be the last reflective I make for this semester, Liana. If my estimation is true, than this will be the last task too for me. And it means only one week before Final Test.

For the last theme, I chose to use "Myth and Fact". Therefore, many people always think something that usually doesn't make any sense, and I don't like it a little bit. We live in the modern era, why would you still believe what your great grandmother's great grandmother's grandmother and endless words without any evidence? We can search facts in the internet unlimited, and we can distinguish which one is the correct. So, start from know, think first before you believe it.

Thank you so much for keep reading my blog.

The Facts of Exercising

Liana Riani
Daily Journal
May 18th, 2017

Doing exercise is usually what people do when they want to keep their health or just want to lose weight. But, sometime they didn't do it in the correct way. The common exercise is running in the daylight while wearing a jacket, so it will make quick weight down. But do you know it's not effective? The fact is the air during noon is easier to make sweats and jackets will make the body more heat. But, what missing is not fat, but body fluids. This habit will make other body organs such as heart and kidneys disturbed. Because the lack of fluids make blood thickens. The heart and kidneys also work harder pumping and filtering blood. The other misconception about exercising is the more you exercise, the better. Sports do not always have to be heavy, sweating is not necessarily good. Exercise, as well as medicine, should be optimal. Type, frequency, and intensity are more important to achieve goals. That's why, you should do the right exercise, so you won't waste too much energy and time too.

Healthy Food is not Actually Healthy

Liana Riani Ramli
Daily Journal
May 18t, 2017

So many preceptions about healthy food that are told by old people. Are those ideas true? Or those just mere talk? Let's find it out! That vitamin C can keep someone from catching cold is common knowledge for some people, and there are some statements which support it. The truth is vitamin C has no connection in making cold better at all. The other "fact" is that raw carrot is more nutritious thay the cooked one. Actually, cooking increases the nutritional value of carrot. The process breaks down the tough cellular walls that encase the beta-carotene. The last but not least, they say to minimize fat and calories always remove the skin before cooking chicken. The correct fact is baking, broiling, grilling, or roasting poultry with the skin intact helps preserve its natural juices. Cook with the skin—and then remove before serving.

Mthys about Sleeping

Liana Riani Ramli
Daily Journal
May 17th, 2017

There are many common myths about sleep. Sometimes they can be characterized as "old wives tales," but there are other times the incorrect information can be serious and even dangerous. The National Sleep Foundation has compiled this list of common myths about sleep, and the facts that dispel them. One of those many myth is that snoring is a common problem, especially among men, but it isn't harmfulm. Although snoring may be harmless for most people, it can be a symptom of a life threatening sleep disorder called sleep apnea (pauses in breathing that prevent air from flowing into or out of a sleeping person’s airways), especially if it is accompanied by severe daytime sleepiness. People with sleep apnea awaken frequently during the night gasping for breath. The breathing pauses reduce blood oxygen levels, can strain the heart and cardiovascular system, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Snoring on a frequent or regular basis has been directly associated with hypertension. Sleep apnea can be treated; men and women who snore loudly, especially if pauses in the snoring are noted, should consult a physician. In conclusion, the myth about snoring is not dangerous is false.

About Tea You Must Know

Liana Riani Ramli
Daily Journal
May 16th, 2017

There are many kinds of tea out there, like green tea, oolong tea, earl grey tea, lemon tea, jasmine tea, and ect. Sometimes people just like only a flavor, some they do not really care what the taste is,  and some prefer not to drink any. They said that green tea can make someone slimmer. Some people said that tea contains too much caffeine which will made you addicted. The others said tea cannot be boiled too long because the Vitamin C would evaporate. Are all those statement true? About the green tea, it's true, but you can get the effect when you drink it before eating carbohydrates only. This is because in green tea contained tannin and katekin compounds can prevent the absorption of carbohydrates that enter the body and will come out through the feces. The next is the content of caffeine in tea is much higher than coffee for the same amount of volume, tea (4%) and coffee (1.2-1.4%). However, side effects in caffeine in tea baseball to make addiction. The last is the content of vitamin C in tea is very little, so it does not give much influence to the body. But actually from the results of steeping tea is not vitamin C is perceived benefits, but the content of polyphenols that have a positive impact on the body, which works as an antioxidant (neutralize free radicals trigger cancer). Those are the true facts about tea.

Is Monosodium Glutamate Bad?

Liana Riani Ramli
Daily Journal
May 15th, 2017

Common people always create many thought about something they do not really know without knowing wheter it's true or not. Just like about monosodium glutamate or usually called MSG. MSG itselft is food flavoring which it made from many ingredients. MSG is composed of 78% Glutamate, 12% Sodium and 10% water. High content of glutamate is what causes a savory taste in all kinds of cuisine. Because the making of MSG is through chemical process, people start to think that MSG is not good for their health, and MSG is just one of many junk food. People often say that consuming too much MSG will make someone suffer from cancer. The truth is, consuming food flavoring won't kill somebody, as long as they didn't eat too much. Something too much always lead you to something bad. An optimum point of savory taste that can be felt by someone, that is maximum 5 grams / day. Eat less than 5 grams MSG every day, you'll be okay.

May 10th, 2017

An explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Mexico has killed at least 14 people, all but three of them children, in a poor Mexican village as it celebrated a religious festival. The blast occurred Monday night in a rural area of central Puebla state, Diodoro Carrasco, a senior official in the state government, told the radio station Cinco Radio. He said as many as 11 of the fatalities might be minors. The explosion in the village of San Isidro, 170 miles (270 km) east of Mexico City, came during preparations for a religious festival on 15 May, the state government said. It said the fireworks had been stored inside a home behind a church ahead of a May 15 religious celebration, and the firecracker that set off the explosion was launched by someone outside. The home was destroyed. Eleven of those killed “were minors aged between four and 15”, the statement said. Nine people were killed on the spot and five others died later in hospital. The explosion left 22 people injured, including three children who were in serious condition, an official in the state governor’s office, Javier Lozano, told reporters. Army troops and government officials cordoned off the blast site as ambulances rush in to collect the wounded. The state governor, Antonio Gali Fayad, who plans to visit the scene of the accident, expressed his condolences overnight Monday as the scope of the tragedy became clear. Accidents involving the manufacture of fireworks are common in Mexico.

Dozens of people have been injured in a double bombing, believed to have been set off by Muslim separatists, in front of a supermarket in Thailand. The blasts happened in the southern city of Pattani in the latest attack in the predominantly Buddhist country. The latest attack happened at around 2pm local time, with two bombs going off in quick succession outside a supermarket near the city centre. "The first bomb was small and no one was hurt but the second bomb was huge - I don't know yet whether it's a car bomb or not," Captain Preecha Prachumchai of Pattani provincial police told AFP. "Currently around 40 people have been wounded: one is in serious condition," he said. A decades-old separatist insurgency in the largely ethnic Malay Muslim provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat has killed more than 6,500 people since 2004, according to independent monitoring group Deep South Watch.

Strawberry

Liana Riani Ramli
Daily Journal
May 5th, 2017

Strawberry is cultivated worldwide for its fruit. This fruit is widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright red color, juicy texture, and sweetness. It is consumed in large quantities, either fresh or in such prepared foods as preserves,  fruitjuice and milkshakes. Artificial strawberry flavorings and aromas are also widely used in many products like lip gloss, candy, hand sanitizers, perfume, and many others. The garden strawberry was first bred in Brittany, France, in the 1750s via a cross of Fragaria virginiana from eastern North America and Fragarua chiloensis, which was brought from Chile by Amédée-François Frézier in 1714. Cultivars of Fragaria ×ananassa have replaced, in commercial production, the woodland strawberry (Fragaria verga), which was the first strawberry species cultivated in the early 17th century. Technically, the strawberry is an aggregate accessory fruit, meaning that the fleshy part is derived not from the plant's ovaries but from the receptacle that holds the ovaries. Each apparent "seed" on the outside of the fruit is actually one of the ovaries of the flower, with a seed inside it.

Eating breakfast everyday before starting the day is important. Otherwise, the body will not have much energy left for the whole day. Indonesian people usually eat rice whenever they have meals. Not only rice but also cereal, bread, oatmeal and some fruits will enough for breakfast. However, most people usually choose bread as second chooise if the rice aren't ready or they are in hurry. But, among so many types of bread, there's one the healthies tham the rest. Sweet and Lovely Dessert, Pudding

May 1st, 2017

Many people love eating pudding because of the sweet taste and the thickness. But as the world has changed, pudding has many new variations. Pudding is not only made from seaweeds, but also from gelatine. The texture of the pudding that is made from gelatine sometimes is chewier than the pudding which is made from seaweeds.  There are some recipes that puddings are mixed with staple food too, like rice, bread and noodle. It's quite strange, but many people love to eat those kind of puddings.

Reflective Journal #EighthWeek

April 28th, 2017

Hello everyone! Last week, I didn't write my reflective journal because there was an event from collage that made me couldn't touch my phone even for second. And the event was three-day event so for three days I didn't play with my phone. So, I will just write the reflective journal of the last week in this week.

Last week I was talking about animals, mammal ones. Actually I was so lazy last week, no I think this week too, so I didn't get any idea to write. I looked at my sister's doll, a big panda doll. I got my first topic on last week daily journal from it, lol. The next topic I wrote was about husky, my favorite dog. I really want to pet it, but because of my religion, I can't have it. Although I can just watch it from far away, even just from the internet, I'm still happy to write about husky in my blog.
